SHOULD PAULA RADER HAVE RECOGNIZED BTK?

August 21
When police moved into the Rader home, boxes full of evidence were removed.

For 30-years Rader lived a double life.

But, did red flags exist that could have brought an earlier end in the journey to justice?

It was in the late 70-s Paula Rader came across a poem her husband had written about one of his victims.

It's signs like this that could have lead police to BTK years ago.

So how did she not know more?

In a teary courtroom statement Rader says. "The final victim, as Mr. Davis said, is my wife."

It appears as though the serial killer known for torturing his 10 victims to death Is himself tortured for victimizing his own wife.

Rader says she knew nothing about this.

But, with BTK evidence boxes buried in the Rader's house closet, some still doubt that.

Even court records showing Paula Rader actually found a disturbing Shirley Vian poem draft, about the young mother strangled to death as her three kids, locked in a bathroom, watched.

How could Mrs. Rader, really not know her husband was BTK?

Wichita Police Chief Norman Williams says that was his closet and she really didn't go in that closet.

Williams says she listened to what he had to say and didn't question him.

Criminal Psychologist Howard Brodsky says she may not have known because BTK's activities were so different from what she knew of her husband.
