The superintendent of Andover schools is a finalist for the top job at a Nebraska school district.

Mark Evans, superintendent of USD 385 is among 3 finalists for the superintendent position in Omaha.

The Omaha board is trying to replace John Mackiel, who retired in August after 15 years. In April the board hired former Des Moines Superintendent Nancy Sebring, but she withdrew in June after sexually explicit emails sent to and from her work account became public.

Evans has been superintendent of Andover Public Schools since July 2005.

The two other finalists are Stephen Murley, superintendent of Iowa City Schools in Iowa and Carey Wright, chief academic officer for the District of Columbia public schools.
