UPDATE: Monday, October 21, 2013
Investigators continue to study the site of a deadly plane crash in Sedgwick County that happened late last week. Two people died Friday when the plane crashed southeast of Derby.
On Sunday, NTSB Investigator Tom Latson said searchers recovered the nose, tail and flight controls from the Cessna Citation.
Monday, searchers continued to excavate the crater looking for pieces of the engine. They're also looking for a cockpit recorder, but don't believe they'll find one based on past inspections of the plane.
They hope to have the excavation completed tonight, but it could take longer. The recovered wreckage is being taken to a storage facility in the Dallas area.
The crash killed 72-year-old Pastor Ed Dufresne and his 49-year-old pilot Mitchell Morgan, both of Murrieta, Calif.
