Just because you're 50 or 60 years old doesn't mean you can't enjoy the finer things in life.

In fact you may get those things at a discount. As Catey Hill of smartmoney.com says, some retailers and service providers are expanding their deals for for those over 50. And we're not just talking about the early bird dinner special.

Here are some of the discounts.

1. Travel. Senior households spend on average $1,897 a year on travel. More than any other age group. Amtrak offers a 15% discounty for those 62 and older. Some airlines offer discounts for those who call ahead and ask. Cruise lines offer deals for those 55 and older. Most rental car companies offer discounts for AARP members. And many hotel chains offer deals for those 62 and up.

2. Chain restaurants. Many fast food chains and fast casual chains offer discounts for seniors. From Applebees to Hardee's, it never hurts to ask and cash in.

3. The great outdoors. Yellowstone, Yosemite, The Grand Canyon. Through the National Park Service those 62 and over can get a lifetime pass to more than 2,000 national parks for just $10. Besides free park admission you get a 50% discount on boat rental and other extras.

4. Clothes. Some of the best deals for older Americans can be found in this area with several big chains offering 10% discounts or more. Boomer's monthly spending on clothes has declined by 30% the past five years and many companies want that business back. Kohl's, Banana Republic, and Dress Barn are just a few of the many courting older shoppers.

Grocery chains are offering discounts too.
