WICHITA, Kan.--- The United Teachers of Wichita and the Wichita Board of Education announced a tentative one-year agreement on teachers' contract for 2014-2015.
"Our teachers are the lifeblood of what we do in our district and we want to reward them however we can, with as much as we can. This year, we gave them everything that we could give them," said Sheril Logan, president of the Wichita BOE.
Highlights of the tentative agreement include a two-percent salary increase, one step on the salary schedule for years of experience, and adjustment on the salary schedule based on additional education.
The total value of the compensation and benefit package increase is 3.49-percent, which includes the elimination of the January 2, 2015 inservice.
Negotiations began at the beginning of May. If ratified, the contract will go into effect on August 1.
