WICHITA, Kan. -- A Wichita man was sentenced today to federal prison for marijuana trafficking.
This morning, 38-year-old James Kasinger was sentenced to five years in federal prison. He had previously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
In the plea, he admitted that he and others distributed more than 100 kilograms of marijuana by breaking down the loads, distributing it and packing U.S. currency to send to Mexico as payment.
In November, co-defendant Osbaldo Garcia-Garcia was sentenced to 41 months in prison after he admitted to using a phone in 2011 to talk with another conspirator about a problem with a shipment of marijuana.
The Wichita Police Department and DEA later served a search warrant and seized a significant amount of marijuana from hidden compartments in tractors.
