A Wichita company has been fined thousands of dollars for violating the No-Call Act.

According to the Kansas Attorney General's Office, Moore Water Treatment LLC, also known as EcoWater Systems of Wichita will pay $10,000 in penalties and fees.

The attorney generals' office began investigating the company in 2012 after receiving a complaint from a Wichita consumer who was on the Do-Not-Call list. Two others also filed complaints with the AG's office, and 17 complaints were filed with the Federal Trade Commission. Those complaints alleged that Moore Water called them for the purpose of conducting water quality surveys and to solicit the sale of their water filtration products and services.

This year, the Kansas Attorney General's Office has obtained judgments against 12 businesses for violations of the No-Call Act, resulting in more than $1.7 million in penalties and fees.

Kansans wishing to register for the national Do-Not-Call list can call 1-888-382-1222 or visit www.donotcall.gov. To report a violation, visit the attorney general's website at www.ag.ks.gov.
