United Way of the Plains has announces a relief fund for the long-term recovery efforts from the April 14 tornado in Sedgwick County. The organization will give 100 percent of each donation to tornado recovery assistance. No administrative fees will be charged.
Checks, payable to United Way of the Plains Tornado Fund, can be mailed to United Way of the Plains, 245 N. Water, Wichita, KS 67202.

The Salvation Army is also providing support to those affected by Saturday's tornado and is accepting donations to offset those costs.
Three Salvation Army emergency disaster mobile feeding kitchens remain in service, one stationed outside a temporary shelter for survivors, while the two other canteens rove through the devastated areas. Since Sunday, volunteers have served more than 1,200 meals and 4,000 snacks and cold drinks to first responders, clean-up crews and survivors and provided more than $3,000 in financial assistance to more than 154 individuals to purchase necessities.
Salvation Army case workers are set up to take applications for assistance at the Multi-Service Center at Idlewild Park, 3937 E. Oaklawn Drive in Wichita. Please bring proof of residency (ID, utility bill with an address, etc.).
The best way to help tornado survivors and rescue workers is to make a financial donation. Monetary donations allow disaster responders to immediately meet the specific needs of disaster survivors.
