WICHITA, Kan. — A pedestrian is hospitalized after being hit by a truck early Monday in west Wichita.
Police say a 35-year-old man was crossing Central from north to south around 1:15 a.m. A pickup driver apparently never saw that man, and hit him.
Wichita Police Sergeant Robert Lacy indicated to KAKE News the pedestrian could be at fault, because he didn't take a simple step to keep from getting hurt.
"It's dark out. My recommendation is, probably use the crosswalk. We have lights just up the street there to the east. Just use the lights."
The nearest crosswalk is located at Central and I-235.
Lacy added the 59-year-old driver of the pickup was shaken up a bit, but otherwise is OK.
