Wichita Police were called to a child endangerment call in the 2000 block of East Second Street, yesterday around 10 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a one-year-old boy and two-year-old girl outside an apartment, wandering alone.

"It's very disturbing any time you have children that are unsupervised walking around," said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police. "First of all, thank the neighbor that intervened and called 911. Secondly, we're thankful that nothing happened, where children didn't walk out into traffic or wander off and get lost ."

Officers noticed a door to an apartment that was open and went inside to check the welfare of the occupants.

Inside the apartment, they found three adults who appeared unresponsive due to alcohol and/or drugs. Police found various drug paraphernalia around the apartment.

Investigators believe the occupants had a party the night before and did not notice the children had woken up and were wandering outside.

The two toddlers were taken into police protective custody.

Three adults were arrested for various felony charges and warrants.
