WICHITA, Kan.-- An 18 foot fiberglass canoe, used for Arkansas River cleanup efforts, was stolen Monday evening.

The volunteer and organizer of the Kansas Tree Huggers group tied his canoe to a dock in his backyard. His residence backs up to the Little Arkansas River in the 1300 block of North Lewellen, by North High School.

Rick McMullen filed a police report and posted the photo of the canoe on his Facebook page.

"I posted on Facebook right away and somebody said that they saw somebody, a young man with a kid, paddling down river towards Oak Park," said McMullen.

Unfortunately, the canoe was not located.

If you know any information about the stolen canoe, call police.

McMullen said he wants the canoe returned so that he can continue the river cleanup efforts.

"I'd be happy if it just came back. I really don't care the specifics," said McMullen.
