WICHITA, Kan. — Deputies are investigating after someone stole a credit card from a mailbox and used it to buy thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

Last week, Sedgwick County sheriff's deputies were called to a residence in the 15200 block of Hickory Circle where a resident reported receiving two packages he didn't order.

According to the sheriff's department, someone had taken a Pier 1 Imports credit card from the mailbox at the home in late March and used it to purchase $2,100 worth of items in the homeowner's name.

The card has since been canceled and the items were returned.
