A traffic stop in Northwest Kansas has helped land a man wanted for robbing a Lawrence bank. Lawrence Police said Matthew Headley, 37, of Colorado Springs, was stopped by the Kansas Highway Patrol on I-70 near Colby.

The US Bank, 1807 West 23rd Street, was held up Thursday afternoon. Employees said a man entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding cash. The clerk gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect was last seen running from the bank.

In a news release, Lawrence Police said officers interviewed Headley not far from the robbery scene yesterday, but did not have probable cause to arrest him at the time. Investigators looked at physical evidence and determined they had probable cause to make an arrest.
