WICHITA, Kan. -- The Kansas Department of Health and Environment had plenty to explain on Thursday night.
The private well water supply for some West Wichita homeowners has shown to be toxic. It's partly due to a former "Four Seasons Dry Cleaners" site at 8947 West Central.
"We've been working at identifying private drinking water wells, sampling those wells and providing an alternative water supply, so that's what we're working on right now," said KDHE's Bob Jurgens. "Phase one is to take care of the drinking water issues."
People here are concerned. The chemicals found in their water can cause a variety of severe central nervous system issues.
Natasha Brooks says she's had to alter her lifestyle.
"You gotta be conscious of it, you know, we cook every day, so I can't just grab water from the sink anymore," said Brooks." But I don't know, it could be worse."
"I thought about my kids that were raised on that water and then it makes me wonder- I have headaches, aches and pains. Did this water do that?", asked West Wichita's Blanche Brown.
Questions that, for these residents, need to be answered.
