The Kansas Supreme Court has upheld the capital murder and rape convictions of Israel Mireles. Mireles was found guilty of killing an El Dorado teenager in 2007.

Mireles was sentenced to life without parole in the death of Emily Sander, who was killed in an El Dorado motel. Her body was found several days later.

Mireles claimed he didn't receive a fair trial because gruesome photos were shown to the jury and prosecutors failed to instruct jurors on the lesser offense of felony murder. The Supreme Court rejected Mireles' claims.
