Smoke, accidents, shut down portion of I-70 in Saline County

Salina, Kan. -- A five mile stretch of Interstate 70 was shut down Monday afternoon after a grass fire lead to several accidents and dropped visibility.

Troopers shut down the interstate between milemarker 235 and 240 after an accident involving 5 vehicles. The accident was caused in part by smoke blowing over the roadway from a grass fire.

The road was reopened again shortly before 7 p.m.
