MANHATTAN, Kan. -- A man is hospitalized after being shot by police during a disturbance at a Kansas hotel.
Just after 6 a.m. Tuesday, the Riley County Police Department received a call about shots fired at the Quality Inn and Suites hotel at 150 East Poyntz Avenue in Manhattan.
When Riley and Pottawatomie County officers arrived, they saw a man firing a gun outside the hotel. They ordered the man to drop the weapon, but he continued to fire. Officers then returned fire, hitting him several times.
He was transported to an area hospital, but his current condition is unknown. His identity is not yet being released.
No one else was injured. The KBI will lead the investigation into the shooting.
