Wichita Police have identified the man who was killed in a southeast Wichita accident Thursday afternoon.
Eighteen-year-old Wesley C. Stewart died after police say he lost control on East Pawnee and struck a pickup truck before crashing into a concrete pillar.
Police said Stewart was traveling at a high rate of speed and was unable to make the curve. His seat belt was buckled, but he was sitting on top of it. When emergency crews arrived, he was found in the back seat.

An 18-year-old man was killed in a crash in southeast Wichita Thursday afternoon.
It happened around 5:15 p.m. in the 5600 block of East Pawnee near the Kansas Turnpike overpass.
Authorities on scene said the man was westbound in a silver passenger car, lost control, struck an oncoming pickup truck near head-on and then hit a concrete pillar.
Witnesses told police he was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
The driver of the pickup suffered only minor injuries.
Pawnee remains closed between McAdams Street and Woodlawn while Emergency crews clear the scene.

One person was killed in a crash in southeast Wichita late Thursday afternoon.
It happened just before 5:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of East Pawnee near the Kansas Turnpike overpass.
Authorities on scene say one person died in the two-car collision. No other injuries have been reported.
Pawnee is closed between McAdams Street and Woodlawn while Emergency crews clear the scene.
Details surrounding the accident weren't immediately available.
