A Kansas man is dead and his wife was critically hurt when a pickup truck crashed into their motorcycle. It happened just after 5 p.m. Sunday on Kansas Highway 96 about two miles east of Scott City in Scott County.
Kansas Highway Patrol officials say Patrick Vega, 51, of Kansas City, Kansas, and his wife Shelly Vega, 49, were heading westbound on K-96 on their motorcycle when a pickup truck that was heading eastbound on the highway made a left turn in front of them. The truck struck the motorcycle head-on.
Patrick Vega was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. Shelly Vega was taken by helicopter to a Wichita hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the truck, a 63-year-old man from Scott City, was not hurt.
The accident is under investigation.
