WICHITA, Kan. -- A four-year-old Wichita girl and her mother were attacked by a neighbor’s dog. Now, they want the dog removed from the area.
Tracy McFadden and her daughter, Sheyene, are healing together. They have matching injuries.
“She’s bit up pretty bad,” Tracy said of her daughter. “She got the worst of it.”
It happened Thursday night near Lincoln and Oliver. Tracy said she and her daughter went to see their neighbors across the street. When she knocked on the door, she says a pit bull came after Sheyene from inside the house, latching onto her arm.
“He was a man-eating pit bull and he drew blood,” Tracy said. “He wanted to eat something.”
Tracy quickly pulled the dog off her little girl. That’s when it lunged at her. She said the dog locked down on her arm, but the owner helped get it off.
Now, she wants the animal gone forever, so it doesn’t; attack another small child.
“I'm lucky to be alive, lucky she's alive, and just thank that man up there for not making it worse, because we could have been killed,” she said.
The pit bull is now at animal control under a “dangerous dog evaluation.” If it is deemed dangerous, it will be put down. We tried to speak with the dog’s owners, but they were not home.
