Man Bound Over For Trial After Deadly Motorcycle Crash

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

A man will face a jury in connection to a deadly motorcycle accident.

Joshua Wynn, 22, was charged last month with first-degree murder after motorcycle chase and crash in September 2011. His passenger, 19-year-old Mallory Scofield, died in the crash.

Investigators said officers tried to pull over Wynn, who was driving a motorcycle with Scofield, but he sped away and a chase began. That chase was called off after it reached excessive speeds, but officers later spotted the motorcycle near K-42 and Pawnee Street and a second chase began.

Deputies called off that chase when it reached speeds near 100 miles per hour but the motorcycle crashed near the intersection of 135th Street West and Hayden Street. The motorcycle hit a curb and both Wynn and Scofield were ejected. Wynn was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and Scofield died in the crash.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin July 23.
