BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. -- A 46-year-old man suffered serious injuries Sunday morning after his motorcycle hit a deer in southern Butler County.

It happened around 9 a.m. at SW 210th Street and Hopkins Switch Road, which is a few miles east of Douglass.

The man was taken to the hospital with numerous injuries. EMS personnel said he was coherent and talking during transport.

The victim's name has not been released. Further details about the accident were not immediately available.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said in a news release that deer-vehicle crashes are the highest during breeding season, which peaks in mid-November.
