One man is in jail following a hit-and-run in northwest Wichita early Thursday morning that led to a brief police chase and the suspect being tasered.

It began around 12:10 a.m. at the intersection of Maple and Ridge Road.

Authorities say a Chevy Trailblazer ran a red light and hit another vehicle. An officer who was in the area attempted to stop the SUV, but the driver failed to pull over. The pursuit continued on for about two miles to a residence on North Caddy Lane.

The officer instructed the driver to get out of the vehicle, but he refused. The 36-year-old man was then tasered and arrested.

The 58-year-old driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital with potentially serious injuries. His current condition is not known.
