WICHITA, Ks. ---

Nearly a dozen business in Hutchinson are broken into overnight. Many of them located in strip shopping centers along Main St. in Hutch.
Police say the suspect was caught on camera and need your help tracking him down.

While the doors have been replaced, it was different scene this morning for those working at the State Fair Shopping Center.

Adam Pina, Manager of Hutch Vapor, says his employees were greeted with a mess when they arrived to work this morning. He said "they totally smashed the front door and went right for the register."

Nineteen businesses in total were broken into. A big number for a small town, Dr. Chris Schroeder, who works at Schroeder Family Chiropractic, says "I don't think I've ever heard of that many break-ins anywhere."
Pina says, "to have somebody from the outside come in and do what they please it's kind of nerve wracking."

Hutch Police were able to get surveillance footage from one of the businesses hit. They hope this can help them capture the culprit. HPD Detective Curtis Black is confident, says "that someone will know who this is and can identify them just by looking at the video that we have available at this time."

The police department describes the suspects as a white male about 5'8 to 6' ft. tall. Slender build with possibly short, brown hair. Police believe the suspect only made out with petty cash. Pina, Hutch Vapor manager, is surprised he didn't steal their products. Some of the more expensive items in the store range from $50 to $100 dollars. He said "I'm sure they could have turned around and sold it on the street for close to the same value."

This ordeal bringing the businesses in this shopping center closer together. Pina said, " I think this is going to put everyone a little tighter and we're all going to look out for each other closer than what we have in the past."

With this video circulating, the businesses at State Fair Shopping Center, are hopeful for an arrest soon. Pina said, "it's a small town and people do talk. it's only a matter of time before they slip up and tell something to somebody. They're going to get caught. It's going to happen."

If you have any information about the suspect you are asked to call the Hutch Police Department or Reno County Crimestoppers at 694-2666 or 1-800-222-TIPS.
