An overnight fire destroyed a vacant home in northeast Wichita.

Fire crews were called to the 3200 block of North Oliver, near Chisholm Creek Park, at around 12:45 Saturday morning. Upon arrival, they found the second floor engulfed and collapsing.

Battalion Chief Joe Bickel says firefighters battled the blaze from the outside only once the residence was deemed vacant.

The home reportedly belongs to the Board of Park Commissioners. The cause has yet to be determined.

"We will go back through the structure as soon as we deem that it is safe to get inside,” Bickel said.

Damage is estimated at $100,000. No injuries were reported.
