WICHITA, Kan. — Bond will not be reduced for a man accused of murdering a Wichita radio station employee.
On February 10, the body of 25-year-old Daniel Flores was found inside the radio station where he worked: Steckline Communications, located near Kellogg and Maize Road.
Acting on a Crime Stoppers tip, officers stopped a car driven by 31-year-old Antwon Banks 2 days later. He stabbed himself in the abdomen as officers approached, and was treated at an area hospital before being transferred to the Sedgwick County Jail.
He was later charged with first degree murder. According to police, Banks is an ex-boyfriend of a woman who worked at the same radio station. Officers said Banks and Flores did not know each other.
During a motion hearing Monday morning, Banks asked that his bond be reduced from $750,000. The judge denied the request.
His preliminary hearing is still scheduled for July 16.
