REXFORD, Kan. -- Three people have died in a multiple-vehicle crash in northwest Kansas. Six others are listed with possible injuries.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. Thursday on Highway 83 near Rexford, which is northeast of Colby. A Kansas Highway Patrol report shows six tractor-trailers and five passenger vehicles were involved in the pile-up.

Low visibility caused by high winds and blowing dust likely contributed to the crash, KHP spokesman Tod Hileman said.

The victims were identified early Friday as 51-year-old Leonard Scott Breeden of Colby; 57-year-old James Ocie Perrott of Perryton, Texas; and 66-year-old Jerold L. Lamb of Florissant, Colo.

Hileman said there were two other accidents around the same location, one involving two semi trucks that sent both drivers to the hospital, and one non-injury accident.
