Anthony, Kan. --- A ceremonial groundbreaking kicks off the Anthony Downtown Redevelopment project.

Just over five years ago, July 8, 2009, fire destroyed nearly an entire downtown block with several stores after a gas line was accidentally broken.

It'll take a year to construct what's called "Anthony 100," a 41,000 square foot building with about a dozen store fronts.

Wichita based Tru-Building, Inc. is contractor and developer.

A 2% sales tax is being collected in a Community Improvement District to fund the redevelopment.

Jeff Jones, President of Tru-Building, Inc. says the project will be completed in a year.
