1-10-07 - An Arkansas City funeral home has confirmed that the family of Jodi Sanderholm has made funeral arrangments for the teenager. Searchers found the body of a female early Tuesday morning in a rural area of southeast Cowley County.

The service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16 at Scott Auditorium on the Cowley College campus. There are two memorial funds: The Shanks Family/Jodi Sanderholm Scholarship Fund with Cowley College and with the Arkansas City Dancers. Funds can be sent to the funeral home at PO Box 756, Arkansas City, KS 67005.

By noon on Tuesday, authorities recovered Jodi Sanderholm's car from the Cowley County lake. Police also say they are preparing charges against a known suspect.

In a news release Wednesday morning, Arkansas City police said "another individual and/or individuals may have also been involved in" Sanderholm's disappearance.

In a statement released from the Arkansas City Police Department Tuesday night, authorities would not say if the body was that of Sanderholm. They did say the body would be transferred to the Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center for identification and autopsy.

A flatbed tow truck was seen hauling the black 2003 Dodge Stratus away from the lake area around 4pm.

19-year-old Jodi Sanderholm hasn't been seen since Friday.

The Arkansas City native was a member of the Cowley College Tigerette Danceline and a pre-pharmacy major. The former Arkansas City High School valedictorian had a 4.0 grade point average at Cowley.

On Monday, in a written statement, Ark City Interim Police Chief Sean Wallace said investigators have developed some leads, and some evidence had been recovered.

Investigators focused part of their search at the Cowley County State Park. Helicopters hovered above the lake on Monday, looking for any sign of the teen.

All day, Jodi's friends and even strangers walked through Arkansas City putting up pink ribbons in her honor. They say the ribbons are a sign of holding out hope Jodi will be found safe.

Cowley County Crimestoppers is asking for any information. Crimestoppers can be reached at (620) 442-7777 or (620) 221-7777.
