Potwin Resident Tony Harvey, 43, doesn't typically buy lottery scratch tickets, but his brother-in-law does.

"He's from Missouri, but he loves to play Kansas Lottery," Harvey explained. "And while they've been visiting us for the holidays, he's been playing a lot."

Yesterday Harvey decided to join in the fun, purchasing a single $2 Bonus Crossword ticket, while his brother-in-law bought five other tickets.

"He was going to buy the Bonus Crossword ticket, but decided not to when I said I wanted to buy it," explained Harvey. "Boy, you should have heard him when I found out I had a $20,000 winner! He gave me a pretty hard time."

Harvey, who works the overnight shift at the Valassis printing facility in Wichita, finished his shift at 9 a.m. this morning, gathered up his wife Randi and 17-year-old son Ethan, and headed straight for Lottery headquarters in Topeka.

"This is great! We are so happy," Harvey said. "This is a nice way to end 2008 and start the New Year out right!"

The Harveys said they plan to put their prize money in the bank.
