Miracle Machine?
July 17

A new device out of Europe, hitting the gyms in the U.S., claims to provide weight loss, lost inches, and reduce cellulite. But does this so called miracle machine really work?

You pump, you jump, and you sweat. It can be agonizing trying to lose weight, but now there may be an alternative.

Tucked inside a small workout studio in Oklahoma City are the strange contraptions known as Europe's alternative to liposuction.

It starts by putting on a space-aged looking skirt. Then you climb aboard what is really just an elliptical machine. The skirt provides a vacuum and air is circulated, creating resistance.

Dawn Lowe Runs takes Tae Kwon Do, but she's never seen results like she has gotten with the Vacu-Step.

"I actually had lost almost an inch around my waist,t and a half inch around each thigh in two weeks, so it was pretty incredible," said Lowe Run.

Scherry Billins, the owner of Workout For Women, found the machines on line in Germany. She hired an interpreter and traveled to Europe to check it out.

In Germany they actually have wellness centers where they have these things lined up one right after the other," said Billins. "On the other side of the room, there are women lined up waiting to get in to use them"

Billins brought them over and tested a group of 40 women.

"Everyone lost something," said Billins. "Two and a half inches was the smallest and some lost up to nine inches."

Sandy Woodring says the Vacu-Step also helped in another stubborn area, cellulite.

"I was starting to get quite a bit of cellulite on my legs, and I can really tell a difference," said Woodring. "It's probably like an 80 percent improvement on my cellulite."

Billins has already ordered more machines for her gym, and signed an exclusive deal with the German company to sell them in the United States. Many of the women at her gym are already sold.

Each Vacu-Step session consists of times at 30 minutes each on the machine, and it runs about $200 total.
