A 28-year old man was killed in his home near Pawnee and Oliver from a fire that investigators believe may have started in his kitchen.

Investigators said they think Ulimboka Ambelile came home from work around 5:00 a.m. and started cooking breakfast but was distracted, causing the fire to get out of hand.

The fire happened around 6:20 a.m. Sunday morning. Emergency crews took Ambelile to a local hospital in critical condition where he later died.

Damage to the apartment is estimated at $25,000.
