UPDATE: Monday, June 4, 2012

Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson tells KAKE News that 47-year-old Ronald Harner was arrested for driving under the influence about three hours before Wichita Police say he killed his girlfriend.

Police have identified the victim of Saturday's homicide in Tallgrass as Jolie Crosby, 41. Crosby was found dead inside her living room in the 8400 block of East Greenbriar Court after her teenaged daughter called 911.

"The 10-year-old called 911," said Lt. Randy Reynolds. "None of the children reported hearing any argument prior to the shooting. Now, whether there was or wasn't, they didn't hear it. They were all asleep at the time."

A total of four children were inside the home at 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning. They ranged in age from 6 to 14. Reynolds said three of the children belonged to Crosby and the fourth belongs to Harner.

Harner did not live at the residence, Reynolds said. His address is in Hutchinson. After questioning, police booked Harner into the Sedgwick County Jail for suspicion of second-degree murder. He is being held on $250,000 bond and is expected to have a first court appearance Tuesday.

Harner was arrested for DUI in Reno County shortly after midnight Saturday. He was released from the Reno County Jail before 2 a.m. The shooting was reported three and a half hours later.

Crosby's death is Wichita's 12th homicide of the year and the third domestic violence-related murder of 2012.
