Several people are recovering from injuries after an accident following a police chase.
It began near May and Vine just before Noon Friday. Authorities said an officer noticed a car driving recklessly, and tried to pull the vehicle over.
The driver refused to stop, continuing north on Meridian. An officer used stop sticks to try and end the chase, but the car lost control and crashed into two vehicles near McCormick. The cars had pulled over to the side of the road.
The 26-year-old driver ran away from the scene to a nearby house, but was tased and taken into custody. Two other people inside the suspect’s car were transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Four people inside a van, and two people in another car involved in the accident, were also taken to Wichita hospitals to be treated for minor injuries.
Capt. Russell Leeds said the chase lasted less than a minute. The Kansas Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation.

One person has been taken into custody after a police pursuit in west Wichita.
It happened near Meridian and McCormick around Noon Friday.
A witness tells KAKE News several officers were chasing a car south on Meridian, then the car swerved onto McCormick. The suspect's car hit two other vehicles head on.
At least seven people received minor to serious injuries in the accident. Five adults and two children were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
One of the patients was a passenger in the suspect's vehicle.
The driver that police were chasing ran away from the scene. He was tased, and arrested at a home south of the accident.
Authorities closed off the area for about an hour to clear the scene.
