Two Newton schools have been placed on lockdown while police investigate reports of a possible armed person in the area.
Chisholm Middle School, 900 E. 1st, and Slate Creek Elementary, 901 E. 4th, were placed on lockdown shortly before 3:00 p.m.
The lockdown was lifted a half hour later and the children were allowed to leave.
Harvey Co. dispatchers said officers are in the area looking for someone who may have matched the description.
