UPDATE: Wichita woman murdered shortly after her wedding

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The victim of the Sunday morning shooting and the first Topeka murder of the year has been identified as Tiffany Davenport-Ray, a 42-year-old woman from Wichita.

Awnterio D. Lowery has been arrested for first degree felony murder in the case, criminal discharge of a weapon, distributing certain drugs and aggravated assault, which are all felonies, and Lowery was also booked on misdemeanor drug charges.

At around 1:40 a.m. Sunday, Topeka Police received reports of a shooting at SW 19th and South Kansas.

Shawnee County Dispatch told 13 News someone inside a vehicle was shooting at another vehicle.

Tiffany Davenport-Ray was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries where she later died.

A friend of the victim told the Capital-Journal that Davenport-Ray had lived in Wichita for the past 10 years working at Beechcraft and had just returned to Topeka for her wedding Saturday.
