Wichita firefighters have extinguished a fire that broke out at Wichita Collegiate this morning.

Investigators said the fire started in the older part of the school in a small staff kitchen near the gym. The fire was contained to that room, but there is some water damage to some nearby classrooms. The gym filled with smoke, so the fire department did have to break out some skylights to venilate the room. Damage is estimated at $150,000.

Classes were held today. Tonight's substate basketball game will be held as scheduled.
