Standoff Suspect Faces Several Charges

Hutchinson Police and Reno County deputies forced an end to a standoff situation in Downtown Hutchinson Thursday. A man walked into a law firm business with a gun at about noon.

Five people were inside the business, but all got out safely. Meanwhile, the man holed himself up inside the business and wouldn't come out for police.

The incident took place inside the Holmes Law Office at 11 East 2nd St. At around 7 p.m., authorities cut the power to the business and began throwing in concussion grenades, otherwise known as flash bombs. Tear gas was also used. The man then came out uninjured.

He has been identified as 30-year-old Nathan Michael Cunningham.

Cunningham made his first appearance Friday morning. He has been charged with one count kidnapping, one count aggravated burglary, one count aggravated criminal threat, two counts aggravated assault, one count stalking, one count felony obstruction and one count violation of protection from abuse order.

His bond has been set at $500,000.
