A wanted man is behind bars after he led Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase overnight in west Wichita.
Sedgwick County Sheriff Lt. Jeff Holtz said a 26-year-old man was caught speeding shortly before 3 a.m. at the intersection of Central and Ridge. When the deputy tried to pull him over, the suspect didn't stop.
That's when he drove east to I-235, merged onto the highway before heading south and eventually east on Kellogg, where he sped up to 95 mph. He got off the highway at the Dugan exit, but rolled his SUV when he tried to turn.
Holtz said the man crawled of the SUV before deputies arrived. As he ran off, a K-9 unit was released. The dog was able to apprehend the suspect.
Authorities said Justin Hoover of Clearwater had been wanted for sale of meth. After the chase and accident, he also faces charges of possession of narcotics, fleeing and eluding law officers, and reckless driving.
