All those canceled classes thanks to snow days, have some high school seniors in jeopardy of not graduating.
Goddard schools used up all of their three snow days along with two more this year. That means the seniors will be short by several hours come graduating time. The district has now decided the seniors will go an extra two days, and beginning February 28th, the school day will be extended by ten minutes.
"So if we were to miss another day, hopefully that won't occur, but if it did then we would have an extra day to allow our seniors to graduate on time and not have to make up another day just before graduation with seniors," said Assistant Superintendent at Goddard George Tignor.
Most seniors we talked to say they don't mind going the extra days... As long as they get that diploma. Other districts in the state are facing the same crisis as they try to decide how to make up the hours.
