Nick Cox shows us his front door where a week ago burglars kicked it in and helped themselves.

"They had stolen my shotgun, x-box, DVDs, money. All my pictures thrown everywhere and drawers were pulled out," said Cox.
It was around seven last Monday morning when Cox and his wife and son left the house. When Cox came back an hour or so later, he found the mess.

Just down the street, police believe the same thieves hit another home. The day before, it was a house in the 1700 block of North Woodlawn and the 1400 block of East Kay.

They stole everything from a 2002 Chevy Blazer to televisions and weapons.

"The method, the time of day, all occur shortly after the victim leaves their homes so probably the suspects are sitting off watching and waiting for someone to leave," said Captain Doug Chambers of the Derby Police Department.

Police say this type of burglary doesn't happen often in Derby. They want everyone to keep their doors locked. Cox is waiting on a security system and a guard dog.

Police say they have some promising leads, but remind everyone that if they see someone or something suspicious to call them right away.
