Denver, CO. -- Aaron Ralston, the man who in 2003 cut off his own forearm to free himself from a boulder, has been arrested for domestic violence.

ABC 7 in Denver reports that Ralston was arrested on a charge of assault and wrongs to minors. Specific details about the arrest have not been released.

In 2003, Ralston was canyoneering in Southeastern Utah when a boulder dislodged and pinned his hand against a canyon wall. After being trapped for 5 days, Ralston used a multi-tool to amputate his forearm and free himself.

Ralston went on to write a book about ordeal which was adapted into the 2010 movie "127 Hours" starring James Franco.
