ROSE HILL, Kan. (KAKE) - The South Central and Southeast Kansas Chapter of the American Red Cross will be holding a free smoke alarm install event this weekend.

The organization says they are partnering with the Rose Hill Fire Department and Butler County Emergency Management to host the event in memory of the three individuals who died in a house fire on April 20 in Rose Hill.

Over 23 homes have already pre-signed up for smoke alarm installations, the Red Cross says. Volunteers will also be distributing fire and tornado safety information to residents.

The event is set to take place Saturday, May 4, in Rose Hill from 1-4 p.m.
