SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) - Police say a 60-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Salina on Wednesday.

It happened just before 7 p.m. in the 600 block of South Broadway. Sgt. Chad McCary said a Chevy pickup failed to yield when turning left into Club Car Wash, causing traffic to back up in the right lane.

A motorcycle went around the backup and stopped to avoid the pickup. The man operating the motorcycle, Steven Moore, and his 64-year-old female passenger fell off the bike and slid. Police said Moore then slid into the back of a Dodge Neon in the center lane that was attempting to turn into a parking lot.

Moore and his passenger were taken to a local hospital where Moore was pronounced dead. The passenger's condition was not released.

The accident remains under investigation.
