WINFIELD, Kan. (KAKE) - Students from both Winfield Middle School and Winfield High School have been released after being placed on a brief lockdown due to an alleged threat.

There are currently no details as to what the threat was in regards to.

Winfield USD 465 has confirmed that Winfield Middle School and Winfield High School have both been placed on lockdown.

Law enforcement is on site, and the district confirmed that students and faculty are not in any direct danger.

Because of the lockdown, dismissal has been delayed and buses will be running late.
