McPHERSON, Kan. (KAKE) - A Hutchinson man has been arrested after a foot chase through the McPherson Walmart.

Around 8 a.m. Sunday, McPherson County Sheriff deputies responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch, and an individual walking away from it, in the area of K-61 and 14th Avenue. The vehicle was discovered to have been stolen from Hutchinson, and the individual was not located at that time.

Nearly three hours later, McPherson Police received a report of a vehicle burglary in the 2100 block of East Kansas. Witnesses were able to provide a description of the suspect, which matched the description of the individual walking away from the vehicle earlier.

Police and Sheriff deputies searched the area, and received reports of the suspect going in and out of nearby stores.

A short time later, officers were notified that the suspect was inside Walmart. Officers confronted the suspect in the store, fleeing and escaping through an emergency exit. Officers pursued him on foot, and was apprehended.

Seth Gilliam of Hutchinson was arrested for outstanding warrants. Additional charges will be filed with the McPherson County Attorney's Office.

Police noted that good Samaritans assisted in the apprehension of Gilliam.
