WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A Wichita family has shared an exciting update on their journey to help find a service dog.

Three months ago, KAKE News spoke with 9-year-old Ben Jobe about his mission to help his little brother Cooper. On Friday, the family shared that they have adopted an English Teddybear Goldendoodle named "Savior."

Lacy Clarke Jobe, mom of Cooper and Ben, says they have a family friend to thank.

"I was telling a friend about it and how we were still $9600 short so it was not going to happen but if only the timing had been better," Lacy wrote. "The next day she showed up to my house with a $9600 check and said that she wanted to loan us that money to go ahead and get him! She thought he sounded perfect and she also understood that Cooper needed him now, not later."

Lacy says that with the adoption of Savior, the family is now entering a new phase of the process: Putting Savior through 26 weeks of service dog training.

While the Jobe family is thrilled to have Savior, their GoFundMe still needs help to pay off the loan for the service dog as well as continued service dog training. Ben Jobe is still selling art and pictures of Savior to help his mother. You can find the latest update on the fundraiser page. If you would like to get in touch with Lacy about the great update, you can do so at (316) 393-1215.

"We have a lot of art available for sale, and new art is made almost daily," Lacy said. "Plus Ben made a picture of Savior that we are going to sell on magnets and t-shirts. Of course, donations are also accepted."
