ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (KAKE) - A college student has been arrested in connection to a counterfeit money investigation in the dorms of Cowley College.

Ark City police officers arrested 20-year-old Lam Gok Kuany of Nebraska after a months-long counterfeit currency investigation.  The Cowley athletics web site, cowleytigers.com,  lists a Lam Kuany as a member of the Cowley basketball team which just completed its season in the NJCAA tournament.

For around a month, officers say they have been receiving calls about a man attempting buy things at a local business with what they believed to be counterfeit bills. After working with campus security, they executed a search warrant in the Kirk Dale dorms on Wednesday.

In the dorm room they found $28,000 of what they believe to be counterfeit bills and arrested Lam Bok Kuany on Thursday without incident.

Kuany now faces five counts of counterfeiting currency, four counts of theft by deception, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond has been set at $17,500.
