WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita police have arrested three more people in connection to the shooting deaths of two teenagers last week, bringing the number of suspects to five.

The department said its homicide section on Tuesday arrested three teenage boys, ages 15, 16 and 17, for felony murder. Hayden Williams, 18, was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail Monday evening for two counts of first-degree murder and is held on $2 million bond. Police also announced Saturday that a 14-year-old boy had been arrested for felony murder.

"The relentless pursuit of justice continues as the investigation into this crime proceeds," Lt. Aaron Moses said in a release. "Our focus remains on uncovering all relevant facts and collecting every possible piece of evidence to understand the events leading to this tragedy."

The shooting happened last Friday night in the 5200 block of East Kensington, near 15th Street North and Oliver. Officers responded just before midnight to a shots fired call as well as to an area hospital for the report of two shooting victims.

Police said 14-year-old Emoni Shears and 19-year-old Jhiquez Roberts, both of Wichita, were later pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to a previous release from WPD, the investigation  led investigators to believe that all those involved in the shooting incident knew each other and were meeting at the location where it happened.

“Receiving notifications about shootings is always disheartening, and it becomes even more saddening when it involves the loss of a child's life," Police Chief Joe Sullivan said after the shooting. "This has to stop. As a community, we must demonstrate to our young people that there are alternatives to violence.”

The department says that early intervention can make a significant difference.

"Two young lives were lost, and our community mourns this profound loss. We encourage individuals to be vigilant about potential violence or conflict in the
community and to reach out to community leaders or law enforcement for assistance."

These deaths marked the second and third criminal homicides in Wichita this year. The city's fourth, which involved a 14-year-old victim, was reported Monday, January 29.
