Wichita woman dies in crash on icy Kansas highway on Christmas

LARNED, Kan. (KAKE) - An 86-year-old Wichita woman has died and several others were hospitalized following a head-on crash during winter weather in central Kansas.
The accident happened at around 2 p.m. on Christmas Day on K-156 about five miles west of Larned in Pawnee County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a westbound Chevy S-10 pickup lost control on the ice/snow, went left of center and stuck an oncoming Toyota SUV.
A passenger in the Toyota, Evelyn Reece, was killed. Notification was provided to her son at the scene. Two other passengers in the Toyota had minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. The driver was not hurt.
The 27-year-old Larned man driving the pickup was transported to a Wichita hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
